Threat Hunter stated in the "Internet Black and Grey Industry Research Report for Q3 2023" that in the channels of money laundering resources in Q3 2023, third-party payment platform accounts have the highest proportion, followed by virtual currency trading platform accounts, bank cards, and digital RMB accounts. The black industry combines loan platforms with virtual currencies, and with the assistance of third parties, uses the money borrowed from loan platforms to purchase virtual currencies that are difficult to supervise. Then, the black money is used as repayment funds and transferred to the loan platform, transferring the risk of money laundering to the loan platform. In the past money laundering methods, there have been cases where the black industry directly uses black money to purchase large amounts of virtual currencies on virtual currency trading platforms, making it easy for the platform to discover and control their virtual currency accounts. Based on the method of "combining loan platforms with virtual currencies", the black industry can transfer the operation of purchasing virtual currencies to third parties. At the same time, since the source of funds used by third parties to purchase virtual currencies is normal, the possibility of being detected by virtual currency trading platforms can be greatly reduced.
