Security Team: Fake imToken and BitpieWallet wallet applications appear in the Apple App Store in China, please be aware of the risks
Blockchain data analysis company Bitrace has issued a reminder to users on X platform to be cautious of downloading wallet apps from unofficial sources. Bitrace and the SlowMist team have discovered fake imToken and BitpieWallet wallet apps in the Chinese Apple App Store, resulting in financial losses for some victims. Suspected coin theft groups have taken advantage of lax auditing in the Apple App Store and used purchased keyword rankings to redirect users to download links for fake wallets. Investors must be aware of these risks. SlowMist's Cosmos said, "The fake apps created by scammers appear to have no relation to the target wallet, but the effect images are 'shocking': 'Due to policy influences, access and use of third-party financial apps by users within China are restricted...' This has led some users to download these fake apps, which then directly open the final fake wallet in Safari browser. Users follow the instructions provided and their mnemonic phrases are stolen by the scammers."
