Web3 social music service SOMESING lost 730 million SSX worth US$11.58 million in the attack
On January 29th, SOMESING, a Korean Web3 social music service, announced that it was attacked last Saturday, losing 730 million native tokens SSX, worth $11.58 million. The amount hacked includes 504 million undistributed SSX tokens (scheduled to be circulated by the end of 2025) and 226 million SSX held by the Somesing Foundation (which is already part of its current circulation).
Somesing pointed out: "It has been confirmed that this hacker incident has nothing to do with any member of the SOMESING team. From the method, it is speculated that it was done by professional hackers specializing in virtual asset hacking." Currently, SOMESING has reported the hacker incident to the Korean National Police Agency for investigation and stated that it will notify the International Criminal Police Organization. Somesing is also tracking the attacker with the help of the Klaytn Foundation and security company Uppsala Security. Somesing stated that it will freeze assets and take legal action after identifying the culprit. Korean major cryptocurrency exchanges including Upbit, Bithumb, and Coinone have stopped SSX recharge and withdrawal at the request of Somesing and warned users that price fluctuations may be exacerbated due to security vulnerabilities.
