The Aave community is conducting an on-chain vote on the "Aave V1 deprecation" proposal
According to the Aave governance website, the Aave community is conducting an on-chain vote on the "deprecation of Aave V1" proposal. The proposal vote will end on February 6th, and the number of people who have voted in support has already reached the required number.
The purpose of this proposal is to approve the subsequent steps to retire Aave V1 in order to reduce the operating expenses of the deprecated Aave instances. Therefore, the proposal suggests upgrading the pool logic to allow healthy positions to be closed with a fixed bonus of 1%, as well as other measures.
The proposal states that the Aave protocol V1 was released in January 2020 and was eventually replaced by the Aave protocol V2 in December of the same year. Although Aave V1 has been deprecated for a long time, there is still some liquidity on protocol 1. Even if this instance is not included in the Aave security module, as part of Aave, it will still be monitored and evaluated when development and/or security decisions are made.
