U.S. prosecutors request hearing for lawyers representing SBF and former Celsius CEO
According to CoinDesk reported that US officials have requested a hearing to address potential conflicts of interest in the criminal prosecution of FTX founder SBF and former Celsius CEO Alex Mashinsky on fraud charges.
In letters to the judges overseeing the SBF and Alex Mashinsky cases on February 6th, prosecutors expressed concerns about lawyers Marc Mukasey and Torrey Young, both of whom have submitted notices of appearance in the former cryptocurrency executives' criminal cases. The US officials have requested a Curcio hearing, during which the judge can ask questions about potential conflicts of interest and why the two lawyers are involved in the SBF and Alex Mashinsky cases.
The letter stated: "As the trial evidence in this case has shown, Celsius provided loans to Alameda Research, and some of those loans were repaid to Celsius using customer funds held by Alameda Research." "There are potential conflicts of interest in several respects between Alameda Research and Celsius."
