ZetaChain commits 5% of total supply to developers and dApp ecosystem growth initiatives, with 1% dedicated to Bitcoin projects
Original source: ZetaChain
New Ecosystem Program will accelerate the growth of projects built on ZetaChain through developer grants, with a major dedicated fund specifically set up for Bitcoin-related projects, following the halving event.
ZetaChain’s mission is to serve as a platform that provides universal access, simplicity, and utility to any blockchain. We are excited to announce the launch of a comprehensive ecosystem program to elevate and accelerate the growth of impactful decentralized applications (dApps) and protocols built on the ZetaChain blockchain.
5% of Total ZETA Supply
This new program allocates up to 5% of the total ZETA supply to support the most promising and impactful projects built on the ZetaChain blockchain, with 1% (21 million ZETA) allocated specifically to Bitcoin-related projects. These programs are the first allocations from the Ecosystem Growth Fund’s 12% total supply outlined in the ZETA Token Allocation. ZETA is planned to be distributed over the next 3-4 years.
The program will support the development of cutting-edge products, services, and solutions that leverage ZetaChain’s native Bitcoin integration capabilities through grants, incentives, and community events.
Top 5 blockchain platforms by active users
Since the ZetaChain Mainnet Beta launch on January 31, 2024 , we have seen a lot of developer interest in Omnichain smart contracts , which enable dApps to access and integrate native digital assets from non-smart contract chains such as Ethereum, Binance, and Bitcoin.
The ZetaChain ecosystem already has over 250 developers and partners working in DeFi platforms, SocialFi, gaming, oracles, leading wallets, and more. The ZetaChain network has over 2.6 million weekly active users and has generated over 100 million EVM transactions and 690,000 cross-chain transactions on the blockchain to date. Over 5,200 dApp contracts have been deployed.

Bitcoin Project Ecosystem Growth Plans
Bitcoin has been the biggest story in Web3 over the past year, with the recent halving reducing the mining reward for Bitcoin blocks by 50%. Together with the developer community, we recognize there is tremendous potential to develop groundbreaking solutions and use cases that increase Bitcoin ownership, usage, and adoption, further solidifying BTC as the premier digital asset.
The ZetaChain blockchain provides access to native Bitcoin applications and integrations for all connected chains and any dApps built on the network. The Bitcoin-focused portion of the program focuses on three core pillars that developers are working on:
BTC Infrastructure
Enhancing the underlying infrastructure for BTC-related applications through OP_RETURN support for BTC wallets, infrastructure to enable BTC re-collateralization, APIs, UIs, and cross-chain transaction indexers.
BTC Decentralized Finance (DeFi)
Cultivating a comprehensive set of BTC-centric DeFi products, including lending platforms, decentralized exchanges (DEXs), perpetual contract aggregators, money markets, and collateralized debt position (CDP) solutions.
BTC Games and Social Software
Enable BTC to be integrated into gaming and social ecosystems, allowing players to earn native BTC as rewards through in-game activities, or use native BTC for in-game purchases. In addition, projects focused on building BTC-centric social graphs and networks will be supported through gas subsidies.
Launch Decentralized Applications (dApps) on ZetaChain
The program focuses on DeFi protocols built on ZetaChain, supporting both liquidity and trading incentives, helping to drive more education, efficiency, and overall application usage. For gaming and SocialFi projects, funding may help subsidize the cost of executing transactions for 1-6 months to reduce potential user entry barriers that transaction fees may present.
Our goal is to enhance novel use cases and user experiences built on the ZetaChain blockchain. The program will prioritize projects that leverage ZetaChain's full-chain capabilities.
Apply to Join the BTC Ecosystem Growth Program
The BTC Ecosystem Growth Program is now open for submissions. Projects can visit ZetaChain Developer Grants and complete the grant submission form. We look forward to supporting promising and impactful projects in Web3, with a particular focus on the Bitcoin developer community. Our goal is to increase the use and adoption of blockchain capabilities and help the industry realize its potential for a new, decentralized internet.
ZetaChain
ZetaChain is a simple, fast, and secure omnichain blockchain. As a pioneer in implementing the concept of chain abstraction, ZetaChain serves as the foundational layer for the decentralized internet. With ZetaChain’s Omnichain smart contracts, developers can build truly interoperable dApps that span multiple chains from Ethereum to Bitcoin and any existing blockchain in the future. Access all cryptocurrencies from any chain, including future new blockchain innovations. ZetaChain's mission is to build a platform that provides global access, simplicity, and utility to any blockchain.
