Maker Founder: In the next few years, we will launch a purely decentralized stablecoin PureDai, which will only be deployed on the Ethereum mainnet
PANews reported on May 16th that Maker's founder Rune Christensen announced on platform X that they will launch a brand new fully decentralized stablecoin, PureDai, as a supplement to the existing Dai. PureDai will be specifically deployed on the Ethereum mainnet, without any governance or budget involved. It uses ETH and stETH as over-collateralization and relies entirely on decentralized oracle. This move aims to meet the needs of users who lean towards a purely decentralized vision. At the same time, Rune also mentioned that in future, holders of Dai can choose to upgrade it to NewStable or PureDai. The conversion function for NewStable is expected to be launched soon while it may take several years for PureDai's launch. In addition, Maker plans to implement this dual stablecoin solution through phased transitions with an aim eventually shifting major Dai use cases onto NewStable which will focus more on mass market adoption and real-world asset support compliant with regulations.
