Original Title: "Jupiter LFG Third Round Voting Imminent: A 3-Minute Overview of Platform Rule Changes"
Original Author: Wenser, Odaily Planet Daily

On May 22, the third round of voting for Jupiter Launchpad LFG will commence. The candidate projects for this round are cross-chain interoperability protocol deBridge, betting platform Divvy.Bet, and NFT marketplace Exchange Art. Compared to the previous two rounds with 5-6 candidate projects, the number of candidates this time has nearly halved. Notably, based on past voting activities and community feedback, the LFG platform has made some changes to the voting rules to better utilize the platform. Odaily Planet Daily will introduce the changes to the LFG platform rules and provide a brief interpretation in this article.

One Winner: Fewer Projects, One Victor

1 Vote, 1 Winner. — Changes in LFG Third Round Voting Rules

According to the voting pages of the first and second rounds of Jupiter LFG, the first round saw a total of 201 million JUP votes, with Zeus Network receiving over 58% (approximately 117 million votes), while other projects received between 2% and 20% of the votes. The second round saw a total of 230 million JUP votes, with Sanctum receiving over 64% (approximately 146 million votes), and other projects also receiving between 2% and 20% of the votes.

Therefore, from the results of the first two rounds, we can see that LFG Launchpad voting is essentially a "winner-takes-all" platform activity. Communities with more members and votes can gain significant attention early on, securing a leading advantage in the voting interface, ensuring their project wins the final vote.

In a sense, other projects are merely "accompanying the prince to study," gaining some attention but failing to get listed on the LFG Launchpad, effectively wasting varying amounts of votes.

This point was mentioned in previous community discussions and proposed changes. LFG official Slorg stated, "Ensuring a single winner will allow the LFG platform to focus more closely on them after listing, providing the best listing experience. Additionally, in cases of very close votes, the platform is willing to accept exceptions, such as when the first and second places have 45% and 44% of the votes, respectively."

Clearly, the main issue here is the "follow-the-leader" behavior during the voting process, leading to the next obvious change.

Avoiding Herd Mentality: Blind Voting Mechanism to Ensure Authentic Results

Blind Voting is Necessary. — Changes in LFG Third Round Voting Rules

In the explanation of the changes to the LFG third round voting rules, the official stated:

"In the previous two LFG votes, the voting process was publicly visible on the voting interface. We observed that projects with a leading advantage saw their lead grow over time, prompting more people to vote for them. We have tried displaying voting results multiple times and believe it is worth hiding the results in this vote. Blind voting will (to some extent) eliminate the bias of voters who vote for the leading project in hopes of receiving more rewards."

It must be said that while the real-time visibility of past voting results ensured transparency, it also led to herd behavior, with voters choosing the leading projects. This design could lead to "vote rigging," where project parties, whales holding large amounts of tokens, or ordinary voters choose the projects most likely to be listed on Launchpad. Additionally, in voting scenarios prone to the "tragedy of the commons," many people vote blindly without understanding the voting rules or the projects. Therefore, introducing a blind voting mechanism can ensure the authenticity and validity of the voting results to some extent.

In other words, the blind voting mechanism in the LFG third round will keep the suspense of the final winning project until the end of the vote. During the voting phase, voters will engage in a subtle "psychological game"—considering their vote's impact and the majority's voting tendencies.

Of course, the community's views on the blind voting mechanism are not entirely unanimous.

In previous community discussions and proposed changes, it was mentioned that for the blind voting mechanism—

On one hand, proponents argue:

It reduces herd behavior;

· It may reduce "strategic voting" (i.e., following the vote trend);

· It enhances voter confidence and encourages more thoughtful voting.

On the other hand, opponents argue:

· Reduced transparency;

· Potentially lower participation (people vote without discussing projects);

· Possible unexpected results;

· On-chain voting results are not hidden;

· People cannot provide feedback based on real-time usage.

In any case, the introduction of the blind voting mechanism in the third round can be seen as an active attempt by the LFG platform, with further adjustments and regulations likely based on voting results and community feedback.

LFG Second Round Voting Results

Flexible Voting: Partial Unstaking, Review Before Voting

Besides the above two rule changes, the LFG third round voting has made two more flexible adjustments based on community feedback:

Partial Unstaking Feature Launched

Some voters wanted to partially unstake their JUP tokens instead of unstaking all tokens. This feature is now available.

Note: When partially unstaking, users can only vote with the still-staked JUP tokens. Tokens unstaked through partial unstaking will have no voting rights, unlike the linear reduction of voting rights in full unstaking.

Voter Awareness Timer

A good voter should understand the voting content before voting. To help users understand the relevant information before voting, the LFG official has set up a new timer on the voting page. Any voter must wait a few minutes after opening the voting interface before they can vote. During this period, voters will be reminded to research the voting content thoroughly. Regardless of which project they vote for, all voters will receive active staking rewards.

It is clear that the LFG platform aims to encourage voters to make informed decisions and exercise their voting rights prudently, rather than simply seeking staking rewards or other potential token incentives.

Summary: The Third Round of Voting May Affect JUP Staking Participation

In addition to these relatively significant rule and feature changes, Jupiter has also made several optimizations to the LFG Launchpad workflow and external information disclosure, including:

· Launching Jupiter

DAO, as the subsequent announcement channel for DAO information and voting-related information;

· The UI interface for Active Staking Rewards (ASR) will be explained and optimized in the future (Note: All participants in the voting can receive this reward);

· Past project AMAs on Discord will be moved to Twitter Space;

· Unique role identifiers will be displayed for candidate projects (and their related personnel) on Discord;

· A related activity calendar will be created to more accurately display the timeline of the LFG platform's workflow.

Activity calendar released by Jupiter official

Moreover, considering the format and channels for external promotion content of voting candidate projects, the LFG platform official is also considering whether to add voting video explanations in the future (such as 30-second introductions of candidate projects, in-depth explanations, interview dialogue videos, or edited content of candidate project interviews, etc.), to facilitate voters in quickly understanding the candidate projects and making voting decisions.

Regarding the launch of Launchpad projects, the LFG platform has also updated and iterated the anti-Bot function, which will be implemented with the dynamic liquidity DeFi protocol Meteora in the future and is expected to be utilized during the launch of the UpRock project.

Finally, according to the latest news released by JupiterDAO, the third round of LFG voting will start at 1 AM on May 23 and will last for three days. Users who previously participated in JUP staking can participate on time.

According to the social media platform data of the previous AMA tweets, compared to the betting platform Divvy.Bet and the NFT marketplace Exchange Art, the cross-chain interoperability protocol deBridge is likely to become the winner of this round of voting. With the introduction of the blind selection mechanism and flexible voting function design, whether the third round of LFG voting can once again attract market attention, active user participation, and lay a good foundation for subsequent project launches remains to be seen.
