The Spanish court has approved the release on bail of Roger Ver, co-founder of Bitcoin.com (also known as Bitcoin Jesus). Ver paid a bail of 150,000 euros ($163,000) and must remain in Spain and surrender his passport. He must also appear in court every two days. Ver is facing extradition to the United States on charges of tax fraud. According to the US Department of Justice, Ver failed to report capital gains or pay taxes on his holdings of Bitcoin, which he began purchasing in 2011 and sold for approximately 240 million euros in 2017, allegedly avoiding at least $48 million in taxes. Ver renounced his US citizenship in 2014 and became a citizen of Saint Kitts and Nevis, but is still required to file US tax returns for certain income.
