The number of Bitcoin holders has remained above 1 million for 13 consecutive months
According to data from Glassnode, as reported by Jinse Finance, the milestone of 1 million "wholecoiners" (holders of one or more full bitcoins) will be achieved for the first time on May 13, 2023. On January 1st of this year, the number of wholecoiner wallet addresses reached a historical high, with slightly over 1,024,000 wallets holding one or more bitcoins. Despite the price of bitcoin doubling by May 2023, the number of wallet addresses holding one or more bitcoins will remain high at 1,010,800.
Of the 19.7 million bitcoins currently in circulation, 2.48 million (worth $152 billion) are held in large centralized exchanges such as Binance and Coinbase. In addition, up to 3 million BTC (worth $80.4 billion, or 17% of the total circulating supply) have been "permanently lost."
