Sydney Sweeney’s X account was hacked to promote her eponymous cryptocurrency
American actress Sydney Sweeney's X account was hacked and posts promoting a cryptocurrency named after her were published, but have since been deleted. The token SWEENEY based on Solana accumulated over $10 million in trading volume within two hours of its launch on July 2, thanks to multiple promotional posts on Sweeney's X account. Starting from 6:15 PM UTC, SWEENEY's price dropped by nearly 90% in just over an hour, but has since rebounded. DEX Screener data shows its market value is currently $1.2 million, lower than its peak of $3.85 million. The token and an administrator of a Telegram channel (shared on Sweeney's X account) appear to be responsible for the hack.
