Odaily News People familiar with the matter said OpenAI suffered a security breach in 2023 but did not disclose the incident outside the company. According to the New York Times, OpenAI executives disclosed the incident internally at a meeting in April 2023, but did not disclose it publicly because the attackers did not access information about customers or partners. In addition, executives did not believe the incident posed a national security threat because they believed the attackers were individuals with no ties to foreign governments. They did not report the incident to the FBI or other law enforcement agencies. The attackers reportedly accessed OpenAIs internal messaging system and stole detailed information about the design of the companys artificial intelligence technology from employee conversations in online forums. They did not access OpenAIs systems that house and build artificial intelligence or access the code. (Cryptoslate)
