Republican National Committee adopts encryption and AI policies in draft platform

A group within the Republican National Committee (RNC) passed a platform draft outlining policies on cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence (AI) on July 8th. The draft was passed by the group with a vote of 84 in favor and 14 against. The platform must be finalized by the convention in future votes.

According to the platform, the Republican Party plans to "end the Democrat's illegal and un-American suppression of cryptocurrency" and prevent the creation of CBDCs.

In addition, the party aims to protect the right to mine Bitcoin, the right to self-custody cryptocurrency, and the right to transact without government control or surveillance. The party also intends to repeal President Biden's executive order on AI, calling it "dangerous" and stating that it will limit AI innovation.

The draft states that its goal is to support AI development "rooted in free speech and human prosperity," in contrast to Biden's AI order, which the draft claims "imposes radical leftist ideology."
