The MAGA (TRUMP) token, one of the largest PolitiFi meme coins inspired by former US President Donald Trump, has surged by more than 35% in one day. The substantial uptick followed an assassination attempt on Trump during a campaign rally on Saturday.
The Republican presidential candidate delivered a speech during the campaign in Butler, Pennsylvania. It was when he began the speech multiple shots were fired from a random direction in the crowd. Trump grabbed his ears and dropped to his knees behind the podium while the security agents rushed to him.
Trump later revealed that he was shot in the upper part of his right ear. He added, “Much bleeding took place.” Subsequent reports confirmed that Trump is “fine” and is undergoing medical treatment.
Notably, the current incident marks the assassination attempt on a US President or a candidate following the assassination of Republican President Ronald Reagan. President Joe Biden responded to the matter, stating,
There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.
Following the controversial incident, the MAGA token began showing massive changes, experiencing significant upticks. As of press time, the token is exchanging hands at $8.80 , marking a notable surge of 36.98% over the last day. The MAGA token has seen a more significant increase of 41% in a week despite the monthly fall of 32%.
The pioneer cryptocurrency, Bitcoin , has also risen by more than 3% following the attack on Trump. Currently, BTC is trading at $60,143, with an increase of 3.54% in a day and 4.22% in a week but a 10.43% decline in a month.
In contrast, Jeo Boden, the meme coin inspired by President Biden, has dipped to $0.03186, with a decrease of 18% on the last day. The token has experienced a huge downtrend over the last month, with a decline of 79%.
