Philippines Department of Justice charges two Russians with stealing $6.2 million in XRP
The Philippine Department of Justice (DOJ) has charged two Russian citizens with stealing 340 million Philippine pesos (6.2 million US dollars) worth of XRP cryptocurrency from a local cryptocurrency exchange. The suspects allegedly hacked into the system of Coins.ph to carry out the theft. According to the charges submitted to the Taguig Regional Trial Court, defendants Vladimir Evgenevich Avdeev and Sergey Yaschuck will face charges under Republic Act No. 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
