German law enforcement authorities disclosed that the "emergency sale" of nearly 50,000 bitcoins has ended, with sales revenue reaching $2.88 billion (2.639 billion euros), while the value of the bitcoins confiscated by German law enforcement authorities was about $2.1 billion before. German law enforcement authorities stated that these profits did not initially represent any additional income for the Free State of Saxony, but would be kept until the criminal proceedings were finally concluded. It is reported that the sale of a total of 49,858 bitcoins took place between June 19 and July 12, and was coordinated by the Cryptocurrency Protection, Custody and Use Central Office of the Saxony State Police, the Dresden Prosecutor's Office, and the German trading company Bankhaus Scheich.
