President Donald Trump is dead set on keeping the United States on top of the cryptocurrency world. He’s made it clear he doesn’t want “another country to take over” Bitcoin and crypto dominance.

Recently, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen expressed concerns about the future of the dollar. At the same time, Trump pointed out a surprising change from JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon.

Dimon, who was a hardcore crypto skeptic, has now “changed his tune,” according to Trump. He met with Dimon and about 80 other business big shots, including the CEOs of Citi, Bank of America, and Apple. Trump called the meeting a “lovefest.” He said that:

“Jamie Dimon was, you know, very negative, and now all of a sudden he’s changed his tune a little bit.”

Dimon has called Bitcoin a “fraud” and a “Ponzi scheme” in the past. He even said if he were in government, he’d shut it down. Dimon also called Bitcoin a “waste of time” and a “pet rock.”

But oddly enough, despite all his trash talk, JPMorgan has rolled out its own blockchain and crypto, JPM Coin, to make transactions faster and cheaper.

Trump didn’t close the door on the idea of having Dimon as his Treasury Secretary if he wins the election. He said, “I have a lot of respect for Jamie Dimon.”

In the past few months, the former president has gone all-in on Bitcoin and crypto. After making millions from NFTs, he’s clearly taken a pro-crypto stance, clashing with the Biden administration’s anti-crypto views.

Trump showed his support for crypto months ago when he started accepting campaign donations in Bitcoin and a few other cryptocurrencies.

Trump’s choice for his 2024 running mate is another sign of his crypto commitment. He picked J.D. Vance, a pro-Bitcoin and crypto former venture capitalist. Trump has shared that:

“I’ve gotten to know people in the industry, they’re top-flight people.”

He’s been rubbing elbows with top crypto elites and getting advice from David Bailey, the publisher of Bitcoin Magazine. Bailey even managed to get Trump to headline the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
