FBI seizes $2.5 million in cryptocurrency from scam targeting Americans
The US Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia announced on Tuesday that it has initiated a civil forfeiture lawsuit to recover the cryptocurrency seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from international fraudsters. The cryptocurrency in question was obtained through the "pig-killing" plan targeting US citizens. Civil forfeiture allows the US to seize assets of overseas fugitives and criminals. The cryptocurrency is held in accounts on Binance.
The announcement reads as follows: Specifically, the government seeks to forfeit 2,546,415.01 USDT seized from two accounts controlled by Thai criminals.
