Watchful Wolf suggested that the closure had to do with the impacting sales of the imminent Black Ops 6. Faze Banks has asked Activision to reconsider the cease and desist order.

The Modern Warfare Remastered mod H2M team has declared closure after being sent a cease-and-desist letter from Activision. The letter comes amid the launch of Modern Warfare 2. Watchful Wolf, creator and founder of H2 Multiplayer, affirmed that the cease-and-desist letter was sent to prevent the sales of the upcoming game Black Ops 6.

The H2 multiplayer mod team stated on X that they received a cease and desist order from Activision Publishing. The cease and desist order forced the team to shut down operations permanently for the Modern Warfare 2 game. According to the team, the Modern Warfare Remastered Mod H2M sought to revive the 2009 MW2.

The letter came amid the release of H2M’s August 16th release date that was posted on the official YouTube channel of Watchful Wolf. The trailer contains images and audiovisual content suggesting the game’s actual features. The trailer features visuals for maps, weapons, and characters. H2M’s last statement confirmed that they are complying with the order and shutting down all operations permanently with immediate effect.

The H2M team tells off  Activision

The H2M multiplayer team said in July 2023 that they are creating a Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remastered mod. The H2M team suggested they are in development and hoped to release the game in the next couple of months. The H2M team also affirmed on X that if Activision wouldn’t do what fans wanted, then the community would do it.

“If Activision won’t do what the fans want, we the community will,” said the H2 Multiplayer Mod team on X.

SteamDB, a database that tracks changes to game prices and stats, revealed that there was a surge in player count. SteamDb confirmed that Call of Duty 4 demonstrated a sharp increase in online players in the last weeks before the cease and desist order. Steam suggested that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered had topped the selling list.

Faze Banks asks Activision to reconsider the cease and desist order

Faze Banks, CEO of Faze Clan, has asked on X that Activision reconsider its decision. Faze said that they have zero involvement with the project aside from being massive fans. Banks added that they were excited to produce ILLCAM on the H2 Mod. Faze Banks affirmed that the MW2 team requested that they purchase the game from Activision, hence promoting their sales.

Faze Banks stated that Call of Duty desperately needed harmless fun and community building with the inauguration of MW2. Banks urged Activision to do the right thing and let the kids play their game.

Watchful Wolf, CEO and founder of H2muliplayer confirmed on YouTube that he received an email of a cease-and-desist order from Activision on the eve of the release. Watchfull Wolf suggested that they immediately decided to drop everything, including the updates, and turned down the game’s servers. Watchfull Wolf added that Activision didn’t want H2M’s popularity to interfere with the sales of the imminent game Black Ops 6.
