The program will educate Indonesians in ten major cities about crypto and blockchain technology. Tether has been organizing these educational programs in emerging markets where USDT is mostly used.

Tether, USDT issuer, has partnered with Indonesian crypto exchange Reku to organize a nationwide program to educate residents about cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. The program will last seven months, covering ten major cities in the country, between September 2024 and March 2025.

In its announcement , Tether stated that the program would increase Indonesians’ knowledge of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies. This initiative is the latest in Tether’s efforts to promote crypto education and adoption globally.

Tether crypto literacy roadshow will cover ten cities

The program will be in the form of a roadshow going from city to city, with a plan to visit ten major cities across the country. Cities hosting the events include Bali, Medan, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Malang, Padang, Palembang, Pekanbaru, and Balikpapan, with a grand finale in Jakarta.

Throughout the program, Tether and Reku will teach Indonesians about the fundamentals of crypto to improve their interactions with digital assets. Indonesia already ranks seventh on Chainanalysis’s list of countries with the most crypto adoption, but Tether clearly sees room for improvement.

The company CEO, Paolo Ardoino, is excited about the partnership, noting that it will help Indonesians make more informed financial decisions.

He said:

“Reku and Tether share a common vision of advancing crypto literacy, ensuring that individuals can make well-informed financial decisions in the rapidly changing digital landscape. We are excited to collaborate with Reku to combine our expertise and collectively promote knowledge and education on crypto assets and blockchain technology across Indonesia.”

Meanwhile, Reku co-CEO Jesse Choi also expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that the company wants to reach thousands of people nationwide. Reku is an Indonesian crypto exchange that started in 2018 and is licensed in 2020. It is the first exchange in the country to provide on-chain staking.

Tether spreads crypto literacy globally as USDT supply grows

Tether’s initiative in Indonesia is part of its global strategy to increase crypto adoption and onboard more people onto Web3. The company has been making these efforts through its educational unit, Tether Edu, and by organizing educational programs in countries such as Vietnam and Turkey.

Unsurprisingly, most of Tether’s crypto literacy initiatives have focused on emerging markets and involve partnerships with local organizations and crypto exchanges. This has proven successful for the company, reflected in the widespread use of USDT in these developing countries.
