Justin Sun Mulls Boxing Bout with Ethereum’s Vitalik in Dubai
- TRON owner Justin Sun invites Ethereum PoS founder for a fight.
- The beef dates back to Vitalik previously calling Sun “a dictator.”

Tron Blockchain’s founder, Justin Sun , is looking to pick up a fight with Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin. This was revealed in a message on X on the evening of September 19. In the tweet, Sun declared: “The atmosphere is so intense; it’s making me want to have a fight with @VitalikButerin at @CryptoFightWeek.”
Vitalik to Go from Singing to Boxing?
The message was answered by Crypto Fight Week, the organization behind Crypto Fight Nights, held first in London and then in Singapore. It is now heading for a follow-up in Dubai, UAE, on December 6, 2024. The previous fight in Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands featured Hedged Hog and Nic Carter, two moderately known internet personalities.
Sun’s challenge resembles a similar exchange between tech celebrities last year when Elon Musk invited Mark Zuckerberg for a cage fight in Las Vegas. That grudge match never came to fruition.
Clash Of Crypto Titans Dates Way Back
This is not the first time Tron’s founder has taken a jab at Buterin. On Twitter, Buterin was spotted siding with IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) developer Juan Benet when he accused Sun of copying the code and imagery of his project after Sun acquired BitTorrent.
In addition, Sun repeatedly called his TRON product the “Ethereum Killer,” similar to Solana (SOL). As the celebrity-status crypto founders clash unfolds, both associated tokens enjoy their time away from the bears. ETH, the largest Proof of Stake (PoS) network, picked up 3.3% 24-hour gains to trade above $2,500 for the first time since September 3, 2024.
Meanwhile, Tron has been trading in a narrow price channel, hovering around $0.15 for the past week. Ethereum’s global market cap is nearly 24 times larger than Tron’s, as Ether outweighs its rival altcoin by $305 billion to $13 billion.
On the Flipside
- Crypto mogul Justin Sun has previously publicly praised Vitalik Buterin on multiple occasions.
- He acknowledged Vitalik’s insight on blockchain technology, confessing that it “far exceeds” his.
