Assassin’s Creed Shadows launch delayed to 2025

The announcement assured fans that they are looking forward to the moment gamers will embark on a memorable adventure with Naoe and Yasuke.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed to February next year. The announcement was made on the game’s official X account. According to the Company, the game’s key features require more time for improvements.

A sad announcement came out today for fans anticipating the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on 24 November. Ubisoft stated the series, based on feudal Japan, had been delayed until Valentine’s Day 2025. The company added that the delay was in the game’s best interest.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows to launch on February 14, 2025

Ubisoft announced the delay of its upcoming series on the franchise on September 25. In an official post on the company’s X account, Mark Alexis Cote, on behalf of all teams working on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, stated that the project was a dream project for the team. He noted that the game contained many features designed with its community in mind.  

Cote also added that the game is set in an immersive world that players can experience through the eyes of two protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke. 

The team stated that they had realized that they needed to refine the gaming experience ahead of the launch. It specified that some of its key features needed to be polished; therefore, the new release date would be February 14 next year.

Ubisoft had previously announced that the series would launch on November 15 and be featured at the Tokyo Game Show 2024. In the official post, the company added that the delay and imminent developments would allow the game to live up to fans’ expectations. 

In the post, Cote noted that the game would launch on platforms such as Steam. He also acknowledged that this news would be particularly disappointing to fans who were looking forward to accessing the game. 

Ubisoft also revealed that pre-orders for the game would be refunded with the delay. The company also promised gamers that all future pre-orders would be granted the first expansion for free. 

The company concluded by assuring gamers that it was also anticipating seeing them embark on the adventure with the two protagonists. 

Fans react to Assassin’s Creed Shadows delay

Some fans expressed their optimism about the delay and supported the company’s move. They reacted to the post on X and stated that as long as the game turned out as they expected, then the delay was welcome. 

Other gamers doubted whether the delay would change much of the game. They highlighted that the game’s plot did not resonate with the company’s target audience. One gamer suggested that the company rewrite the plot and make it culturally accurate to its fanbase.

Others were generally disappointed in Ubisoft’s projects and did not expect much from the company even after the delay.
