Nintendo has just released an unexpected device, an alarm clock for Mario and Zelda lovers. The clock contains a unique mechanism with its motion sensors and background sound effects synced with the movements of the sleeper.

With high anticipation of Switch 2, Nintendo chooses to promote discipline among the gaming community with an unlikely product “Alarmo”.

The alarm goes off at the chosen time playing the theme from 35 scenes from five of the Nintendo games. These games include Super Mario Odyssey, Ring Fit Adventure, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4, and Legen of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The clock also plays soothing chimes to make one sleep.

When asked about this unorthodox idea by the producer of Alarmo and a member of the Development and Entertainment department at Nintendo, Yosuke Tamori said “One of our in-house projects was to research motion sensor technology. As this sensor maintains privacy since it doesn’t use a camera, we had an idea for how it could be highly suitable for use in the bedroom, so we decided to kick off a new project to see what we could do with it.”

Probably the most attractive feature of this clock for the fans will be the motion sensor technology. Along with the sound effects from the selected theme, the motion sensors detect actions. A wave will be detected for a brief snooze time while only getting out of bed will turn the alarm off.

Moreover, the motion sensors allow to keep track of any movements as you sleep during the night.

Users can use two kinds of modes, Gentle and Steady. In steady mode, the alarm increasingly becomes intense with a more persuasive character, as time passes. While in the gentle mode allows the consistency in the intensity of the alarm.

The clock may get annoying by time and for this reason, there is a traditional snooze button incorporated as well.

New themes will be downloaded as well as they become available

Just like the new game patches, users can download new themes that will be available for Alarmo as they become available. Particularly Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons for free.

Users can download these titles with the built-in wifi in the clock.

Nintendo’s website has specifically mentioned that the clock is compatible with the twin-sized beds only. Furthermore, for the proper usage the clock should “be placed facing the center of the bed, within arm’s reach, and no higher than 8 inches above the sleeper”.

While Switch allows gamers to stay in bed while playing, this new product makes getting out of bed worth it.

“Alarmo” is priced at $99.99 and will be released at the start of 2025. However no fixed date has been announced yet.
