Fatih Birol, the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, stated that at present, the electricity used by artificial intelligence accounts for only a small proportion of global electricity demand, approximately 1.5%. There is still great uncertainty about how this number will evolve in the future. By 2035, the electricity demand of artificial intelligence will account for several percentage points of the overall huge growth in electricity demand. Artificial intelligence will promote the growth of electricity, but it is not the main driving factor.
