BREAKING: Kamala Harris Is Allegedly Considering Two Names To Replace Gary Gensler As SEC Chair – What Are Their Crypto Views?
Kamala Harris' team is considering Brummer and Williams, who are expected to have positive views on cryptocurrencies, as potential SEC chair alternatives.
Kamala Harris' transition team is reportedly evaluating candidates to replace Gary Gensler as Chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), according to sources familiar with the talks.
Two potential replacements include Georgetown Law professor Chris Brummer and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Chair Erica Williams, both of whom are believed to have more positive views on cryptocurrencies than Gensler.
Vice President Harris has made no public or private commitment to replace Gensler, and it remains unclear how seriously her team is considering Brummer, Williams or other candidates. For now, Harris’ campaign is focused on mobilizing voters while juggling a short time frame and other pressing policy issues.
“It’s very unclear who the frontrunner is right now,” one source said. “Harris’ campaign is cautious about taking a pro-crypto stance ahead of the election, fearing it could alienate progressive voters who see crypto as a ‘hoax’ without attracting new undecided voters.”
