BlackRock will vote as a major shareholder to decide whether Microsoft should research acquiring Bitcoin
Cryptocurrency trader Fred Krueger posted on platform X that BlackRock owns 7% of Microsoft (MSFT) shares, second only to Vanguard. In addition, BlackRock also holds 8% of MicroStrategy (MSTR) shares. On Monday, BlackRock will vote on whether Microsoft should consider acquiring Bitcoin.
As an important shareholder holding about 7% of Microsoft's shares, BlackRock usually votes at the shareholders' meeting for its holdings. As one of the largest asset management companies, BlackRock actively participates in corporate governance of its investment companies. They exercise voting rights on various issues such as board member elections, executive compensation, mergers and acquisitions and other company policies. Their voting decisions follow their duties as trustees to seek the best interests for the actual owners of the shares they manage - their clients.
