Insider: UK plans to pilot blockchain-based digital government bond issuance within two years
According to a report by Bloomberg, the UK plans to start issuing digital government bonds in the next two years. UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves is expected to announce the trial of digital bond issuance in a speech at Mansion House in London's financial district on Thursday. The UK Treasury is currently developing a timetable for the first sale of digital UK bonds. The Debt Management Office stated in its latest annual report that it has provided advice to the government on the feasibility of issuing bonds using "distributed ledger technology."
